Mode of action:
Heizungsgold OxxiDefend is a corrosion inhibitor for iron, steel, copper and copper alloys. It is preferably used in systems where low electrical conductivity of the circuit water is desired. These systems are usually filled with deionized water. The addition of conventional corrosion inhibitors would significantly increase the electrical conductivity of the water, which may be undesirable. In contrast, the use of Heizungsgold OxxiDefend in conjunction with deionized water results in only a very slight increase in electrical conductivity. The use of OxxiDefend in systems with aluminum-containing or galvanized materials is only recommended to a limited extent and with regular control of the pH value and the aluminum or zinc content in the water.
Application:
Heating Gold OxxiDefend should always be used with fully demineralized water. If other water qualities, such as softened water or tap water are used, the electrical conductivity already present in these waters must be taken into account and compliance with a pH value in the range of 8.5 to 9.5 must be ensured. The dosing is done by a single addition to the filling or make-up water.
Dosing:
Heizungsgold OxxiDefend can be dosed into the make-up water either directly or from a diluted solution continuously with a dosing pump. The concentration of Heizungsgold OxxiDefend should be about 0.5 % (5 kg/m3) in closed systems. The electrical conductivity increases by approx. 105 μS/cm with this dosing quantity. The dosing system must be equipped to withstand corrosion.
